Jeffrey Lewis, the celebrated anti-folk poet-songwriter, literally takes 12 of his favourite Crass (the British anarchist punk band) songs and re-imagines them with his infectious quick wit, battered acoustic guitar and fantastic troupe of anti-folk luminaries backing him up. Surprisingly many of his re-interpretations work fantastically, as it’s always been evident that Lewis shares a lot of the punk sentiment, but is more happy writing his comic books and ratatat tatting his six string in his New York home than breaking out the blaring electric guitars and snarl.
