Grinderman - Grinderman (Reissue)
Formed in the mid 2000s during a break from The Bad Seeds, Grinderman was Nick Cave's way of short-circuiting his own myth. Joined by long-time collaborators Martyn Casey, Warren Ellis and Jim Sclavunos, the project leaned into abrasion, noise and lechery, more Birthday Party snarl than Bad Seeds balladry. The quartet entered a London studio in 2006 for a burst of writing and demoing that would lay the groundwork for Grinderman, their 2007 debut. Produced with Nick Launay, the album landed as a filthy, fuzzed-out detour from Cave's growing reputation as a literary elder statesman, with 'No Pussy Blues' and 'Get It On' embracing frustration, swagger and chaos. A follow-up (Grinderman 2) appeared in 2010; then a year later, the band abruptly called it quits.
