This eponymous album represents the first album of material that Anaïs Mitchell has released under her own name since 2012. Inspired by her decision to relocate quickly and stressfully out of New York to give birth to her second daughter as the pandemic struck in 2020, this folk-based collection was recorded with members of The National and Bon Iver as well as her Bonny Light Horseman bandmates.
